Communications

Learn how to use the tools available to better communicate with your members, audiences, and constituencies. Let's learn together!
As Lions, “We Serve!” our community and provide support to many projects and efforts. Individually, we take advantage of learning opportunities, as well as actively participate in service efforts within our communities.
What we don’t DO well is Communicate! We’re still the “best kept secret” — often, we don’t inform our own constituents about what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and inviting them to become a part of the process… and the fun!
Improving communications — the tools we use and the way we use them — is the single-most often heard “issue” of Lions (both members and leaders).
We have a team: DG Richard Stevenson is an expert in social media with thousands of followers on his multiple platforms; CC Ken Leja has 40-plus years in media and marketing management, including both print and web expertise; Lion Sheila Palazzolo has managed and greatly improved the content of our existing Canyon State Lion; and we’re adding more to the communications team — including you!
We’re teaming up to bring synergy with how, where, when and what we communicate to our members and the audiences of Lions — especially in helping clubs communicate locally. We’re asking every club “Communications” chairperson to get involved in changing the way we communicate.
Get involved and both learn and discover new opportunities on how to communicate effectively. Here’s a few of the opportunities available:
  • Content writers for Facebook and social media;
  • Content editors for club websites;
  • Photographers (got a cellphone?)
    • If you didn’t get a picture, it didn’t happen!
  • Contributors to Canyon State Lion newsletter;
  • Skilled individuals with A/V experience to help with setting up microphones, speakers, sound systems at club, district and service events;
  • Graphic artists for preparing promotional flyers, creating Facebook posts, assisting website editors;
Interested? Curious to learn more? Contact one of the communications team members. We’ll continue to update this list:

  • Ken Leja — lionken@lejafamily.net
  • Sheila Palazzolo — editor@lionsarizona.org
Together, let’s expand our member numbers through actively promoted service efforts and “Share the Pride in Serving our Communities” via our network of communications tools to ALL our audiences.
Let’s Make our Net.Work!
