Lions of 21-B:
This has been a rough month already, with Lion Annie and I traveling to South Dakota for a death in the family and me traveling back to Arizona just in time for the first Council Meeting and 21-B Fall Cabinet Meeting. But life goes on and I am ready to hit the bricks again and take care of the business of our Lions Clubs.
We have made visits to three clubs so far and have spread the message that the District is here to help and serve. The GLT and GMT Teams are gearing up to help clubs in any way that is needed. Zone Chairs have been asked to find out what the clubs would be interested in as far as help and programs and schedules will be set up to attend Zone meetings or if need be to individual clubs to present workshops. This was my pledge to you to bring training and needed programs to the clubs. There will be information put out to give you all some ideas what can be delivered for the G Teams. You might be surprised what they have planned for our District this year and what they can help clubs accomplish. Do not hesitate to contact GMT Leader Al Hunter, from Chandler or GLT Leader Barbara Daily, from Tucson and ask questions or express concerns.
We are now past our fall cabinet meeting, in Tucson. The day Saturday was full of activities and excitement. With the meeting in the morning and workshops in the afternoon, interested Lions found out about Project Linus, GMT/GLT, the Club Excellence Process and an overview of becoming a Guiding Lion with attendance of around 125 and a total OF 25/30 Leos present. During the Cabinet meeting we inducted the members of a new LEO club, from Tucson. This Leos Club has not been letting grass grow under their feet. 20 members went to Camp Tatiyee to help with cleanup before the start of the camper season. They have also held a fund raiser project, car wash, to help raise funds to send 6,000 pairs of glasses to Mexico. This group of 42 youth is setting the goals for the Leos of our District. Now with eight Leo Clubs we are looking at forming a Leos District.
I want to thank the Tucson Breakfast Club for putting on a great weekend for us. The food was great, the hospitality was unbelievable. Nothing but positive comments came my way for the service we received. Well folks you ain’t seen nothing yet. Wait until March Convention and be ready to really have some fun.
So til later take care and remember “WE SERVE” with Helping Hands, Willing Hearts and Lots of Hugs.
