| NEW LEO'S CLUB SPONSORED by the Lake Havasu City London Bridge Lions Club Sponsored by the Lake Havasu City London Bridge Lions Club, the London Bridge Leo Club held its charter night celebration on the evening of April 18, 2012 at the Quality Inn in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In addition to a large contingency of Lake Havasu City Lions, visiting Lions from Kingman, Bullhead City, Wickenburg, Buckeye, Laveen, and Peoria were present for the gala event. The London Bridge Leo Club charters with twenty (20) young women and young men as members who are anxious to follow the footsteps of their sponsoring Lions Club in service to those less fortunate with a strong “We Serve” foundation. Lion Past International Director David Roberts gave the keynote address and talked about the value of community service. He challenged the new Leo Club members to make the Lions Motto “WE SERVE” a high priority in their daily lives. Janet Finley, London Bridge Leo Club Assistant Advisor, presented a short history of the London Bridge Leo Club to date. It is easy to see that these young Leos are already involved in community service. Lion District Governor Debbie Vine performed the Induction Ceremony of the London Bridge Leo Members. After the formal ceremony each new Leo member was presented with a certificate of membership and a Charter Member membership pin. The installation of the London Bridge Leo Club officers was officiated by Lion District Governor Elect Gary White. The new officers are Savanna Bailey, President; Margret Beckwith, Vice President; Taylor Wheeler, Secretary; and Sarah Gomez, Treasurer. Presentation of the Club Banner and Charter was made by London Bridge 3rd Vice President Lion Jim Conley. London Bridge Lions Club President Chaddie Williams presented the Gong and Gavel to the Leo Club. The newly installed Leo Club President Savanna Bailey on behalf of the London Bridge Leo Club received these gifts. London Bridge Leo Club President Savanna Bailey closed the evening with a short talk about the mission and goals of London Bridge Leo Club. | Children Know Peace Rio Aranas, a 12 year old, 7th Grader of Cimarron Springs Elemetary School is a Merit Award Winner in the 24th "INTERNATIONAL LION'S PEACE POSTER CONTEST". She placed in the top 24 Posters out of 350,000 Entries from 60 Countries. The Contestants were ages 11 TO 13. Rio's parents are Rey and Imelda Aranas. As a Merit Award Winner, Aranas will be presented with a cash award of $500.00 from Lions International as well as a cash award and a Certificate of Achievement from her sponsoring club, The Sun City Mid-Week Bell Lions Club. Her poster will travel around the world and be displayed at various Lion's Functions. It will also showcased at the "LION'S INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION in Busan, Korea along with the other 24 merit winners. Club President, Bob Purtill of the The Mid-Week Bell Lions Club commented that the club is very proud to have sponsored her in this contest.. Her art teacher is Beth Rolfe of Cimarron Springs.
